Five reasons why I love the New Hilton Wangfujing
Things are bustling in Wangfujing with the recent opening of the Legendale Hotel and now the arrival of latest belle of the ball: the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing Hotel. I was fortunate to have a guided tour of the space led by Rhoda Adams, Director of Marketing and Communications. Here are five reasons why I love the new Hilton:
Intimate
The hotel only has something like 255 rooms, making it almost boutique. The standard rooms are the biggest in town: 55 sq. meters. Intro price is RMB1,200 (tax not included). A very competitive rate in Wangfujing.
Wine
It boasts Beijing鈥檚 largest wine cellar with something like 10,000 bottles. It was assembled by Dr. Ron Georgiou, one of the worlds 262 certified Wine Masters.
Water
Vino not enough for you? They also have Beijing鈥檚 only water sommelier. Forest Zhao selects the finest waters from around the world to pair with your palate.
Lobby Lounge
I鈥檓 totally into this space. It鈥檚 like a comfortably appointed drawing room in a French chateau. There鈥檚 a working fireplace and leather furniture. It鈥檚 the perfect fortress against the cold.
Rococo
According to Rhoda, the hotel interiors combine elements of French rococo architecture and the Forbidden City. To see how this can possibly carried off without a complete head-on crash is by itself worth the trip.
The Hilton Wangfujing is now open for guests. They also feature top notch Macanese cuisine at Vascos and fab contemporary Chinese cuisine at Chynna . Or tuck into one of their rare vintages at Flames.
